INC
Preliminary results from the soil borings of the TMG 1992 investigation implies the
•
following environmental related aspects of the site
(1) None of the targeted chemical species were detected from samples collected from
borings drilled in Area "A" with the exception of low levels of diesel and heavy petroleum
hydrocarbons near the surface at location A-2 These data suggest that environmental
impacts associated with the reported waste discharge to Area"A"are probably negligible
(2) Results of sample analyses for Areas "B and C" indicate no identifiable environmental
impact associated with the alleged waste discharge in these areas
(3) Results of sampling and analysis in Area "D" reveal marginal impacts from relatively
immobile hydrocarbons (diesel and oil and grease) in two of four borings at shallow
depths These results, considered in conjunction with reported low levels of chlorinated
organic compounds in shallow soils in one boring (D-4), indicate little environmental
. impact associated with reported waste discharge to Area "D"
(4) Analytical results from soil samples from boring T-2 located on the east side of the
concrete tank indicate that soils at depths between 5 and 10 feet have been impacted by
petroleum hydrocarbons Angle boring AB-1 was drilled on the northeast side of the
concrete tank Results of laboratory analyses performed on samples collected from this
angle boring indicated no presence of targeted analyses under the tank in the northeast
porton
Boring T-1 was drilled near the northwest corner of the tank At this location, petroleum
hydrocarbons in the form of gasoline, diesel, and oil and grease were reported at
significant concentrations to a depth of 15 feet Low levels of four VOCs were reported
in the sample from 10 feet, three from 15 feet, and two from 25 feet where the boring was
terminated
•
12270010 013 Page 15
