Stantec
UST and Line Removal Report
ARCO Service Station No. 6080
March 15, 2011
supervision of the SJCEHD. Each soil sample was screened for hydrocarbon vapors using a
portable PID. UST excavation soil samples were collected in clean, two-inch diameter by six-
inch long stainless steel sample liners that were driven into the native soil.
The UST excavation soil samples collected for analysis were retained in the stainless steel
liners, labeled, and capped with Teflon° sheets and plastic end caps. The samples were then
sealed in a zip-lock bag, placed on ice, and transported to Calscience, accompanied by the
appropriate COC documentation. The soil samples were analyzed for GRO and methanol by
EPA Method 8015B (M), BTEX, MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, TBA, EDB, 1,2-DCA, and ethanol
by EPA Method 8260B.
Field notes detailing the UST excavation sample collection activities are included in Appendix A
and the soil sample locations are shown on Figure 2.
2.6 STOCKPILE SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION
On December 13, 2010, Stantec's field geologist collected one composite soil sample [SP-
1(ABCD)] from the soil stockpile of approximately 100 cubic yards. Soil stockpile samples were
collected by advancing two-inch diameter by three-inch long stainless steel sample liners into
the soil stockpile, after removing approximately six inches to one foot of surface material in the
sample locations. Each stainless steel sleeves was labeled and capped with Teflon° sheets
and plastic end caps. The samples were then sealed in a zip-lock bag, placed on ice, and
transported to Calscience, accompanied by the appropriate COC documentation. The soil
samples were analyzed for GRO and methanol by EPA Method 8015B (M), BTEX, MTBE,
DIPE, ETBE, TAME, TBA, EDB, 1,2-DCA, and ethanol by EPA Method 8260B, and total lead by
EPA Method 6010B.
Field notes detailing the stockpile soil sample collection activities are included in Appendix A
and the soil sample locations are shown on Figure 2.
2.7 UST EXCAVATION DE-WATERING SAMPLE COLLECTION
On December 16, 2010, Stantec's field technician collected one groundwater sample from the
Baker tank using a total of six 40-milliliter volatile organic analysis vials and one 500 milliliter
poly container, capped, and labeled. The samples were then sealed in a zip-lock bag, placed
on ice, and transported to Kiff Analytical, LLC of Davis, California, accompanied by the
appropriate COC documentation. The groundwater samples were analyzed for GRO, BTEX,
and MTBE by EPA Method 8260B, and dissolved lead by EPA Method 200.7.
Field notes detailing the groundwater sample collection activities are included in Appendix A
and the water sample locations are shown on Figure 2.
6080 UST and Line Removal Report.doc 3
