(Geomatrix) has prepared this application for a well permit on <br /> behalf of the Port of Stockton (Port). The work for the subject site will be conducted in <br /> F <br /> accordance.with the October 2002 "Work Plan for Additional Assessment and Remediation <br /> Evaluation of Petroleum Hydrocarbons in Groundwater"prepared by Geomatrix, which was <br /> approved with comments by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> (EHD) in a October 22, 2002, letter to the Port. <br /> This penult application is for: <br /> • The installation of three shallow groundwater monitoring wells to about 25 feet below <br /> ground surface (bgs) using a hollow-stem auger rig. The boreholes will be about 10 <br /> inches in diameter. These wells-will have 2-inch diameter PVC casing and 15-foot <br /> long screen. <br /> • The advancement of soil borings at two locations to a maximum depth of 50 feet bgs <br /> for soil and groundwater sampling using the dual-wall and dual-hole direct-push <br /> t method. The first hole will be for continuous soil coring and the second hole for <br /> discrete-depth grab groundwater sampling using a GeoProbe sampler or equivalent. <br /> E These borings will be about 3.25 inches in diameter. After sampling,these borings <br /> will be filled from the bottom with a neat cement-bentonite grout using a PVC pipe or <br />'i equivalent. <br /> f <br /> • If analytical results of the soil and/or grab groundwater samples indicate contamination <br /> in zones deeper than 25 feet bgs, one or two deeper groundwater monitoring well(s) <br />[ will be installed using a hollow-stem auger rig.
