The Port would like to meet with you to discuss the best technical approach
toward any further site investigation and monitoring for this project. In addition, the Port provides the following
response relative to the other technical comments raised in the above-referenced letter:
• The Port contacted its contract laboratory,Precision Environmental Technology(PET),on June 18,2001.
PET advised the Port that subject ground water samples were indeed analyzed within the EPA's
recommended hold time for TPH and other petroleum contaminants and the October 3,2000 date is a
typographical error and not the actual date of analysis. Enclosed, please find a letter of explanation from
PET and the revised lab results with the correct date of analysis on them.
• ReIative to your comment that all quarterly reports are to be submitted by the Port to the Central Valley
Regional Water Quality Control Board(CVRWQCB)and the Public Health Service/Environmental Health
Division(PHS/EHD)under the CCR Title 23,Division 3,the Port agrees with your comment and hereby
complies with it. By way of explanation, however, the Port has relied on the PHS to share a copy of its
quarterly monitoring and other submittals with the CVRWQCB as was instructed by the PHS staff. As
mentioned above, the Port would be happy to provide a copy to the CVRWQCB on any future submissions.
As pointed out in the introductory paragraph of this letter, the Port would like to meet with you to discuss the
additional proposed investigation for this site. We will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient date and time to
accomplish this.
In closing, the Port appreciates the continued spirit of partnering and cooperation that has been extended to
us by PHS.
