WASHINGTON ST
STOCKTON CA 95201
RE: UST Site #3 Site Code: 1282124
Port Rd 13 at G St RO#: 0673
Stockton, CA. 95201 CUF#: 013777
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed
Work Plan for Site Assessment(Plan) dated March 6, 2007 and has the following
comments.
The work plan was required by the EHD in order to continue the lateral and
vertical definition of the petroleum plume. The plan authors proposed the
installation of four shallow (-20-feet deep) push points (133-16 through 133-19),
one deep (45-feet deep) push type soil boring (133-15), and one shallow (25-feet
deep) monitoring well (MW3-7). Soil samples and ground water grab samples
collected are to be analyzed for TPH as gasoline (8015) and BTEX, MtBE, DI PE,
TAME, TBA, EtBE, 1,2-DCA, and EDB (8260B) and lead (200.7).
The EHD approves the location.of the borings with the condition that the shallow
soil borings be extended deeper to include soil and ground water grab sample
collection from the sand layer noted on cross sections in previous reports
beginning at approximately 22 to 25 feet below ground surface ('bgs).
Additionally, proposed monitoring well MW3-7 is to extend into this same sand
layer. The proposed 15 feet of screened interval (10'-25' bgs) should be
modified/extended to 20 feet and the END recommends a 8'-28' bgs screened
interval so as to include the shallow ground water interface and the sand layer
shown on cross sections to begin at 25' bgs in that area or install two wells, a
shallow one in the finer-grained soil, and a deeper one in the sand --a potential
contaminant migration pathway.
With the above noted changes, the work plan will be adequate and necessary
[H&S 25296.10(c)(3)]. Please submit a Well Permit Application Form and $374
to the EHD immediately.
