Addendum to"Worts (Plan for Additional Subsurface Site
Investigation for P*troleum Hydrocarbons" - Site Number 3, Site
Code 1282-124
Dear Carol
The Port of Stockton (Port) hereby submits this addendum to the above-
referenced work as the result of the conference call between you, Phil Ross, and
myself on February 22, 1999 As agreed during our call, the primary change to
the Work Plan is to revise the screened intervals of the three monitonng wells at
the site in lieu of adding a fourth well, which the Port strongly believes is not: a
justified cost from a technical stand point The primary purpose for revising the
intervals is to provide getter coverage of the soils and groundwater that
contained detectable levels of petroleum hydrocarbons during the initial
subsurface investigation The following describes the revised screened intervals
and the rationale used to select these intervals
In the subject Work Plan, the proposed screened interval for each of the
three wells was from 5 to 25 feet below ground surface (bgs) This was in
response to our meeting with you and Margaret Lagono at the Public Health
ServicefEnvironmental Health Division (PHS/EHO) office in December 1998, in
which PHSIEHD requested that the uppermost porton of the screened interval be
placed 5 feet above the water table However, as you correctly pointed out in our
ccinference call, the bottom of the screened interval would not reach the lowest
depth at which PHCs were detected in groundwater during the initial investigation
In a call to Mr Ross an February 18, 1959, you suggested that the Port install an
additional (Fourth) well with a screened interval from 30 to 35 feet logs
GENERAL OFFICE 2201 W vuASHINGTON ST STOCKTON, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
