Groundwater contamination from Petroleum Hydrocarbons was evidenced in the <br /> area of the former Underground Tanks and dispenser locations. Further investigative work is necessary to <br /> determine the lateral extent of the contamination at this site. <br /> Conduct a survey of domestic,municipal,agricultural, industrial and any other wells within a 2,000 foot <br /> radius of this site. Contact the Department of Water Resources,municipal water suppliers and nearby <br /> industries. In addition,perform a physical search of the area to identify any wells. Show locations of all <br /> wells, submit construction details(if available)and evaluate the influence of pumping with respect to the <br /> migration of the contamination. identify and discuss any public or environmental health risks/threats. <br /> Installation of monitoring wells(MWs)near areas of contamination on site is required by PHS/EHD to <br /> monitor and evaluate groundwater conditions at this site. A minimum of three MWs is necessary to <br /> determine the groundwater gradient. <br /> Groundwater samples should be collected quarterly from the MWs and analyzed for Benzene,Toluene, <br /> Xylene, Ethylbenzene(BTXE)and Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPHg)using EPA Method <br /> 8020. Groundwater samples should also be analyzed for Ethyl Tertiary Butyl Ether(ETBE),Tertiary <br /> Butyl Alcohol(TBA), Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether(MTBE), Di-isopropyl ether(DIPS)and Tertiary <br /> Amyl Methyl Ether(TAME)by EPA Method 8260(see attached letter). <br /> Submit a Work Plan for further investigation of the above referenced site to PHS/EHD by December 30, <br /> 1998.
