This letter also confirms that the Central Valley Regional Water Control Quality
Control Board rescinded Waste Discharge Requirements Order No. R5-2006-0024 at the 31
July/1 August 2008 Board meeting. Regional Board staff has reviewed your request to close
the remaining monitoring wells at the Former Spreckels Sugar Plant site, MW-13, 14, -15, -19,
-20, -21 , -22, -23 and -26. As far as the Regional Water Board is concerned we have no
further interest in groundwater monitoring at your site and no objection to closing the
aforementioned wells. Please note that these well closures are regulated by San Joaquin
County under their well closure requirements.
If you have any questions concerning this matter please contact me at (916) 464-4614 or via
email at ratkinson(cDwaterboards.ca.aov.
Ross AtltkirsOn
Engineering Geologist
Title 27 Permitting and Mines Unit
cc: Michael Infurna, San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Stockton
RDA.T:\R5S Sections\Stormwater Cents Title27\_StaffWlkinsR\SpreckelsManteca\WeltDestruction.doc
California Environmental Protection Agency
caRecycled Paper
