Chevron Pipe Line Company(CPL)requests that comments to the MRP be
postponed until the Regional Water Quality Control Board-Central Valley Region(RWQCB)and CPL
agree on a consistent technical approach for CPL'S Waite-Mendota-Richmond,or Old Valley Line, sites.
The former fuel oil reservoir associated with he Alden Park site housed heavy petroleum along this Old
Valley Pipeline system.
The technical approach is described in the November 18, 1996 "Technical Approach to Site Evaluation
and Decision-Making Old Valley Pipeline Sites- Central Valley Region", which was prepared on behalf
of CPL by Geomatrix Consultants Inc. Comments to the MRP will be submitted within two weeks of the
RWQCB's approval of this approach.
In the interim, CPL will submit the results of the pilot separate-phase product removal program, that was
conducted at the site in September and October of 1996. A letter report will be submitted to your office
by December 6, 1996.
CPL anticipates the RWQCB's review, and subsequent approval, of the technical approach. Please
contact Mr.Martin Bloes(510/842-6855) or me(510/842-6877)with any remarks or questions.
Sincerely,
K.L.
