Presently, with the facility
running, less than 0 . 06 lb of hydrocarbons per day are being
released.
The facility was started October 2, 1989, and has been running
about 65% of the time since then. The process air stream from
the facility is run through a carbon pack, and the hydrocarbons
are adsorbed before it is released to the environment. Samples
taken from air that is released from the carbon pack have been
analyzed using a gas chromatograph. The results show the amount
of hydrocarbon being released is less than the detectable limits
of the gas chromatograph. Because the gas chromatograph can
detect nonmethane hydrocarbon limits of one part per million, the
maximum amount of hydrocarbon being released into the air is
0.06 lb per day.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact
me at (415) 620-4975.
Very truly yours,
D.
