Mr. David L. Brent -2- April 14, 1989
Initial Analyses
We will sample Monitoring Wells No. 1, 2, 3, 5, 9, 15, and 16.
These samples will be analyzed for volatile organics by EPA
Method 8020 . They will also be analyzed for semivolatile
organics by EPA Method 8270 . These semivolatile organics will
include base/neutral and acid-extractable compounds, but will not
include pesticides. These samples will be taken as soon as pos-
sible, and we will send you the results when they are available.
Water Board Review
Your office will review these results. If necessary, we could
negotiate changes in the continuing analyses discussed in the
next section.
Continuing Analyses
We will sample five wells (Monitoring Wells No. 2, 15, 16 , 5, and
9 ) every six months. MW-2 is upgradient of the liquid oil plume,
MW-15 is adjacent to the plume, MW-16 is in the plume, and the
remaining two wells are downgradient . We will analyze these
samples for volatile organics by EPA Method 8020 and for PNA' s by
EPA Method 8310 .
We will measure the elevation of the water table in Monitoring
Wells No. 2 , 15, 5, and 9 every three months. We will report
this information every six months with the analytical results.
If there is an unexpected change in the groundwater gradient, we
will inform you right away.
Conclusion
We are looking forward to implementing our plans in Alden Park .
We will keep you informed of our progress. Please call me at
( 415) 620-4975 if you have any questions or comments.
Very truly yours,
a&—
D. H. Mohr
DHM:com/cif
cc: Mr . M. Locke
Mr . C.
