The report, dated 26 January 2006,was submitted by Science Applications
International Corporation(SAIC) on behalf of Chevron.
Groundwater monitoring is conducted in accordance with Monitoring and Reporting Program R5-2003-
0801 and includes 21 monitoring wells associated with the project. SAIC proposed the four wells for
destruction that are described as being redundant and not necessary for monitoring purposes. Review of
historical results indicates these wells have been consistently non-detect or contain very low petroleum
concentrations, and/or are less than water quality objectives since sampling commenced in 1997.
The remaining monitoring wells will be sampled on a semi-annual frequency in accordance with the
Monitoring and Reporting Program. At this time, the locations and number of wells remaining appear to
be adequate for ground water monitoring. We concur with the proposed destruction of the four
referenced monitoring wells at the Alden Park project site. Please notify the Central Valley Water Board
staff at least 48 hours prior to initiating the field activities.
By 15 May 2006,please submit your summary report, describing the well destruction activities.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Dean Hubbard at (559) 445-5179.
SHELTON RcL 1 V C.
