M. Scott Mansholt -2- 20 November 2003
ChevronTexaco
Alden Park
would leave one up-gradient well, and four cross/down-gradient wells near the eight remaining project
wells containing free phase floating product.
We believe that two of the eight wells down/cross-gradient should not be destroyed: MW-9,
approximately 150-feet downgradient and MW-4, approximately 275 feet northeast (slightly down/cross-
gradient) from the project area. These two wells should remain to continue monitoring groundwater
conditions downgradient of wells containing free phase floating product.
We concur that it may be appropriate to destroy the six wells that are either dry, up/cross-gradient or
several hundred feet beyond existing monitoring wells, a final decision will be postponed until this time
next year after two more semi-annual reports are completed and the 2004 annual report is presented. We
suggest that, beginning with the next semi-annual event, the total depth of each well be tabulated with
the water level data table. Additionally, an adsorbent sock should be placed in MW-21 to remove and/or
monitor (quarterly) the petroleum hydrocarbon sheen.
Semi-annual monitoring and quarterly product removal will continue; free phase floating product will be
removed in November and the next semi-annual event is scheduled for March 2004.
If you have any questions please call Dean Hubbard at (559) 445-5179.
SHELTON R.
