Personnel should prearrange hand signals or other means of <br /> emergency signals for communications in case of lack of radios or <br /> radio breakdown. The following hand signals are suggested: <br /> . Hand gripping throat: out of air ; can ' t breathe. <br /> • Grip partner ' s wrist or place both hands around waist : <br /> leave area immediately, no debate! <br /> • Hands on top of head: need assistance . <br /> • Thumbs up: okay; I 'm alright; I understand. <br /> • Thumbs down: no; negative. <br />
