H. Mohr
Introduction
Outline of Work
The Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) has given
approval for Chevron to proceed with our Mitigation Plan for
Alden Park . This Work Plan gives a detailed description of the
procedures that will be followed. Chevron plans to:
. Add a submerged liquid pump and other equipment to the
existing bioventing facility so that mitigation can begin
with the process of combined liquids pumping and
bioventing.
. Take samples of groundwater from the existing monitoring
wells to monitor for contaminants .
• Excavate one oil seep and additional seeps if necessary.
• Plant new trees in our existing planters, and study the
effects of standing water on the health of the trees.
Site Assessment
Alden Park is located in the southwest part of Tracy, California,
and was formerly the site of a fuel oil storage reservoir . The
site is now occupied by a city park within a residential area.
In the spring of 1986 concrete and oil were discovered by a
resident in an excavation adjacent to the park . A site assess-
ment was completed by Kennedy/Jenks/Chilton ( 1 ) in 1986 and Dames
and Moore ( 2) in 1987 . The site assessment located the approxi-
mate extent of the oil contamination and the location of the con-
crete slab from the bottom of the oil storage reservoir .
The final report by Dames and Moore ( 2) contains the detailed
results of the site assessment work . Their results showed that
Encl . - Figures 1-6
Appendixes A and B
