Mr.M. Scott Mansholt—CEMC April 15,2009
Annual 2009 Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling Report Page 5 of 6
Alden Park
The groundwater analytical results are summarized and compared with the numerical State
' WQOs and the RWQCB Region 2 Environmental Screening Levels (EShighlighted
s in Tables
2 and Tables 2
Analytical results exceeding the most conservative ESL and/or WQ0g g
and 3 in bold font. TPHd were present above the WQO and ESL in MW-7, which is consistent
with previous sampling events. The PAHs benzo(a)pyrene and dibenz(a,h)anthracene were
or
detected in MW-8 in concentrations that exceededusability tr respective QprOesentd as Attachment C.
of the laboratory analytical report and the data Y summary are
See Attachment C for details regarding data qualifiers.
QUARTERLY SPO EXTRACTION AND PRODUCT-THICKNESS MEASUREMENTS L
Vacuum extraction of SPO was performed quarterly throughout 2008 (February 1,April , y
2009).
24, and October 21, 2008) and during the first quarter of 2009 (January 16,ed from wells MW-1,MW-3,MW_5 MW-6,
Approximately 169.8 gallons of SPO were remov
MW-15, MW-16, MW_18,MW-20, and MW-21 during 2008 and a total of 41.1 gallons during
the first quarter of 2009. Approximately 764 gallons of SPO have been removed from the wells
to date.
SPO thickness ranged from 5.89 feet in MW-1 0ri Wells MW 5 and MW 21feet in MW-6 during e first See Tablequ
e4 for
2009 event. Oleophilic socks are currently present
a summary of SPO thickness measured and cumulatives asAttacB extracted. Copies of the field
data sheets containing SPO measurements are includeda
' OLEOPHILIC SOCK REPLACEMENT
Oleophilic socks were installed in MW-5 and MW-21
in 200due to the January res nce f relatively
low amounts of SPO. The socks were removedinspected
Approximately 0.15 gallon of SPO was recovered from MW-5, and a replacement sock was
installed. No measurable SPO was recovered from MW-21, and the sock was re-installed.
' QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL
All field procedures were conducted in accordance with SAIC's quality assurance/quality control
procedures4. SAIC's evaluation concludes that all analytical data are usable as qualified for the
purpose of determining chemical concentrations in groundwater at the site.
Data reported in laboratory reports 1128527 and 1128950 for this sampling event were qualified
"E" for values that were estimated due to associated quality control results. Qualified data with
applicable reason codes are provided in Table C-1 of Attachment C.
Analytical data collected in support of this investigation are considered precise, accurate,
representative, complete, and comparable, and may be used for their intended purposes unless
noted otherwise.
I. The WQOs are defined by the Porter-Cologne Act as"the levels or limits of water quality constituents or characteristics which
are established for the reasonable protection of beneficial uses of water or the prevention of nuisance within a specific area."
The ESLs(provided as a reference)are a tool based on conservative standard exposure factors for initial human health and
the environment screening-level evaluations of analytical results.
4.
