r
KLEINFELDER
File No. 20-3937-01
September 3, 1996
6 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Kien
Kleinfelder conducted this limited soil and groundwater assessment of the proposed Schaeffer
Industries site to evaluate the presence of selected contaminants. A total of thirty-six (36) soil
samples were collected from borings MW-1 through MW-3 and four surface sample locations
for lithology logging purposes, field screening and for potential chemical analysis. Nineteen
(19) of the samples obtained were analyzed for selected constituents based on our field
indications and in accordance with the approved scope of work. Four (4) soil samples were
analyzed for asbestos. Following advancement of each of the three borings, a monitoring well
was constructed. The three monitoring wells were later developed, purged and sampled for
chemical analysis.
6.1 GENERAL CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results of the subsurface assessment, Kleinfelder has the following general
recommendations:
1. The three small piles of drilling returns.(soil) should be properly disposed of by the
Client. Kleinfelder can assist the Client in that disposal at an additional charge if
requested by the client.
2. The several drums of equipment decontamination rinseate and purgewater remain on
site, and should be properly disposed of by the Client. Kleinfelder can assist the Client
in that disposal at the Client's request at an additional cost.
3. A copy of this report should be submitted to the applicable reghlatory agencies for their
consideration. This report and the conclusions and recommendations presented are
subjected to the "Limitations" presented in Chapter 7 of this report.
20-3937-01/MR960189 Page 13 of 18 ©1996, Kleinfelder,Inc.
F '
