If a soil sample is
collected, it will be collected at 6 to 12" deep, and analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
diesel (TPH-d) and motor oil (TPH-mo) as well as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by EPA
Method 826013, Organochlorine Pesticides by EPA Method 8081A, Organophosphorous
Pesticides by EPA Method. Nitrate will also be analyzed.
Item 3 — Possible UST: According to the Assessco, Inc. Phase I Environmental Assessment, two
possible vent pipes were observed adjacent and to the west of the chicken house, which may be
associated with a underground storage tank(UST) or underground septic tank. According to Mr.
Dennis Fischer, there is no evidence of an underground storage tank on the property. Magnetic
and possibly induction tools will be used in and around the two vertical pipes. Clearwater will
note whether a magnetic field exists in the vicinity of the possible UST. Clearwater will use a hand
auger and tile probe to explore in the vicinity of the tank. A Geoprobe will be used to sample
near the possible UST to a depth of 20 feet. If it is determined that a UST exists, the scope of
work will be modified appropriately to address proper removal. A Geoprobe 5400 rig will be
used to drill two soil borings (B-9 and B-10) to 20 feet near the suspected UST. One soil sample
from each boring (or water sample, if encountered), will be analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-d) as well as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by EPA Method
826013, Organochlorine Pesticides by EPA Method 8081A, Organophosphorous Pesticides by
EPA Method. Nitrate will also be analyzed.
Item 3 — Status of Wells: Two groundwater wells(one active, one inactive) were observed on the
property according to the Phase I Environmental Assessment. Clearwater will inspect the wells
and collect water samples. The wells will be sampled for total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel
(TPH-d) and motor oil (TPH-mo) as well as volatile organic compounds(VOCs) by EPA Method
826013, Organochlorine Pesticides by EPA Method 8081A, Organophosphorous Pesticides by
EPA Method. E. coliform, total coliform and nitrate will also be analyzed. The water will be
sampled using a faucet, or a disposable bailer, if needed.
DRILLING DERIVED WASTE
The geologist will note materials removed from each boring. Following completion of drilling
activities, all borings greater than 2 feet will be filled with neat cement and finished flush at the
surface with concrete or soil, depending on surface conditions surrounding the well.
Fischer Family Trust,Stockton,CA 3 August 24,200
