The Levees are
inspected regularly and a particular levee segment continuously has evidence of
potential movement. Cracks in the pavement on the top of the levee have been present
for a number of years at this location. However, have recently widened and deepened
approximately 3-ft. The purpose of drilling is to install inclinometer casing where levee
movement/stability can be monitored.
Work Plan
1. Drilling and Inclinometer Casing Installation. KANE GeoTech will retain a
California Licensed driller to install inclinometer casing at two locations at the
project site. Final locations will be determined in the field. The boreholes will
extend to a depth of 45-ft from the crest of the levee. Inclinometer casings will be
installed in the drilled boreholes. KANE GeoTech personnel will log the subsurface
conditions encountered during drilling. No samples will be taken or testing
performed.
2. Manual Data Readings and Monitoring Reports. KANE GeoTech personnel will
complete baseline readings for the two installed inclinometer casings as soon as
possible following installation. KANE GeoTech will take four additional readings
during the winter and spring to monitor the affect of the rain.
Installation Procedure
1. Obtain permit from San Joaquin County
2. Contact Dig Alert to verify potential utility hazards
3. Two (2) holes will be drilled vertically with hollow stem auger.
4. Each hole will be drilled to a maximum depth of 45-ft.
5. Inclinometer casing will be placed in hole then grouted to keep in place.
6. Top of hole will have traffic rated valve box installed with a cast iron lid to prevent
tampering and tripping.
