(AGE) for the above referenced site.
The work plan proposes installation of six vapor extraction wells, installing a soil
vapor extraction system, operating the system for six months and conducting
progress/confirmation sampling. This work plan is not approved. In the
"Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation Report" dated March 7; 2002, AGE
recommended preparation of a work plan for a vapor extraction feasibility study.
' In a letter dated May 7, 2002, EHD agreed with this recommendation and
l requested a work plan for a vapor extraction feasibility study.
Please submit a work plan that proposes installation of sufficient vapor extraction
or extraction test.
wells to conduct a feasibility study and conduction of a vapor
In addition, a survey to identify all wells within'2000 radial feet of the site must be
{ conducted. Contact the Department of Water Resources and perform a physical
search of the area to locate the wells. Submit the results of the survey to EHD
that includes a map showing the location of the identified wells, the addresses
where the wells are located and any known construction details of the wells.
The extent of soil contamination to the north and east of the former underground
storage tank location has not been defined. Soil samples from 30 feet to 80 feet
below surface grade (bsg) were not analyzed from monitoring wells MW 2 and
MW3 so the lateral shallow soil contamination at 30 to 40 feet bsg in borings B4
and B5 has not been defined to the west and south. The extent of soil
contamination laterally and vertically must be defined. In the work plan for the
vapor extraction feasibility study please include a proposal to define the extent of
soil contamination at this site. This information will be necessay to design a
complete vapor extraction system if the alternative proves to be feasible. The
information is also necessary to calculate the:mass of.contamination at the site.
