A total of two groundwater samples were collected and submitted for laboratory analyses. The
groundwater grab samples were labeled, packaged, and stored in an insulated chest for transport
under chain-of-custody manifest to the analytical laboratory.
2.3 Laboratory Analysis
The soil samples collected and retained for analysis were submitted to Sparger Technology, Inc.
(Sparger), of Sacramento, California, a California-certified analytical laboratory. Chain of
custody procedures, including the use of chain of custody forms, were used to document sample
handling and transport from the time of collection to delivery to the laboratory for analysis. The
chain of custody forms and laboratory analytical reports are included in Appendix D.
2.3.1 Aerially Deposited Lead Investigation
Soil samples from the upper 0.6 meters (2 feet) of each boring were included in the aerially
deposited lead investigation. These samples were analyzed for total lead in general accordance
with EPA Method 6010. Based on the results for total lead analyses, specific soil samples were
further analyzed for the soluble concentration of lead in the samples. Soil samples reported to
contain lead at concentrations that exceeded 50 mg/kg were analyzed for soluble lead
concentrations using the Waste Extraction Test(WET). Soil samples with soluble lead results
that exceeded the Soluble Threshold Limit Concentration (STLC) of 5 milligrams per liter(mg/1)
were analyzed by the WET using a deionized water extraction solution(DI WET).
Soluble lead analyses by the WET were conducted on 35 soil samples. DI WET analyses were
conducted on 12 soil samples. Sixteen soil samples were tested for pH. Analytical results
reported for the soil samples analyzed are presented on Table 1.
2.3.2 UST Investigation
The soil samples from collected from greater than 0.6 meters (2 feet),beginning with the
samples collected from 1.2 meters (4 feet), and the groundwater grab samples were included in
the UST investigation. These samples were analyzed for the following:
Matrix Analyses
Soil/water Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline(TPHg)Modified EPA Method 8015
Soil/water Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Diesel(TPHd)Modified EPA Method 8015
Soil/water Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Motor Oil(TPHmo)Modified EPA Method 8015
Soil/Water Benzene/Toluene/Ethylbenzene/Xylenes(BTEX)EPA Method 8020
Soil/water Organolead LUFT Field Manual(May 1988)Protocols
SacDP-N:IrancjpllProjecrsl8?I8?l?641Reponll2O Aurin repon.doc 2-4
S/?1101
