intersection. It was not known whether the anomaly was created by a UST or a utility vault
associated with nearby underground utilities.
• Soil samples were reported to contain TPHd, TPHmo, and organic lead. The reported
organic lead concentration exceeds the EPA, Region 9, residential soil PRG. Organic lead
compounds may not have been detected by the DHS LUFT analytical method. The lead
detected by organic lead analysis may have been inorganic lead, based on the lack of
confirmation of organic lead compounds by GC/MS analyses and the short half-life for
organic lead compounds.
• A groundwater grab sample was reported to contain weathered TPHg,benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and xylenes. All reported concentrations were below drinking water MCLs.
• The soil and groundwater data are interpreted to indicate that a release of motor vehicle
fuels may have occurred on the parcel at the southwest corner of the intersection. Further
investigation should be conducted on that parcel and within Caltrans right of way to
investigate impacts from the interpreted release.
Sn[DP-N:IrnncjpllProjectsl8218212641ReponII20Au tin repon.doc 5-2
5121101
