Health and Safety Plan for
Delineation and Destruction of Well B-1
6 WORK AREAS
Work areas may be established during the field activities to limit access to authorized personnel.
Those zones include an exclusion, contamination reduction and support areas.
6.1 Exclusion Area
Access to the work area during field activities will be controlled and unauthorized personnel and
visitors shall not be allowed access to the facility project Exclusion Area. Only personnel with
specific operational duties should be present in the Exclusion Area, when field operations are
being conducted. Site control at work locations shall be established using barricades, cones, and
flagging tape, as needed to prevent unauthorized access to the Exclusion Area during work.
The Exclusion Area will be established to control access to the work areas and will extend from
a distance of at least 10 feet from the area where potentially impacted media is being sampled or
tested, and at least 25 feet in areas where drill rigs or heavy equipment is in use. The size and
shape of the Exclusion Area will be determined based on surrounding operations and
surrounding public areas. At minimum, Level D protection will be required for all personnel
within the Exclusion Area.
6.2 Contamination Reduction Area
A Contamination Reduction Area may be designated in an area adjacent to and upwind from the
Exclusion Area. In this area, personnel and equipment will be decontaminated, as appropriate,
after work has been completed.
6.3 Support Area
The Support Area covers all areas outside the Exclusion and Contaminated Reduction Areas. The
Support Area provides for all administrative and support functions necessary to keep all field
activities running smoothly. Water, hand washing area, and restroom facilities for field personnel
shall be provided at this location. The entire project area will be considered the Support Area
when no field activities are being conducted.
10275-4
D U D E K 21 June 2017
