17 May 2002
AGE-NC Project No 99-0645
4.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation, flow direction and gradient were determined from field data collected on
12 April 2002, the contaminant impact to ground water was quantified from the ground water
laboratory data
I4 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
Depth to ground water at the site ranged from 8149 feet to 8162 feet below the monitoring wells
casing tops The ground water elevation in each well was calculated from these data The ground
water elevations at the site ranged from 36 26 feet (MW-3) to 36 34 feet (MW-1) below mean sea
level (MSL), an average increase of 9 25 feet from the November 2001 level
The ground water flow direction and gradient were calculated from the well elevation data The
ground water flow was directed toward the north at a gradient of 0 002 foot/foot(ft/ft),or 9 feet/mile
Figure 3 illustrates the contoured ground water elevations as measured on 12 April 2002
lie
42 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in the water samples collected from wells MW-1 and MW-2 at 120 micrograms
per liter(µg11)and 130µg/1,respectively Neither BTEX compounds,MTBE nor the remaining fuel
additives were detected In the water samples
Analytical results from the ground water samples are summarized in Tables 2 and 3 The laboratory
report(Cal Tech Lab ID Numbers 0204-091-1 to -3),QA/QC and chain-of-custody are included in
Appendix B
5.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the data collected from the site, AGE concludes
• Ground water flow direction at the site was northward at a gradient of 0 002 ft/ft or less Due
Ito the low gradient at the site, slight variations In ground water measurements or changes of
recharge/discharge of the local ground water could greatly modify ground water flow
direction
• The increase of ground water elevation of approximately 9 25 feet between November 2001
iand April 2002 is probably due to seasonal fluctuation
,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
