! Ms. Amy Terrell
31 October 2008
' Page 4
' o Ammonia, detected at a concentration of 170 mg/L during the current monitoring
event, has increased in concentration since 2007 but has still remained within
' historical ranges.
o 1,2-dibromo-3-chloropropane (DBCP), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB), and 1,2,3-
' trichloropropane (1,2,3-TCP) concentrations have generally decreased following
the Initial Remediation Pilot Study in 2002. Both DBCP and EDB have decreased
to non-detect levels since August 2004. 1,2,3-TCP was detected at a
' concentration 0.69 micrograms per liter ([g/L) during this monitoring event.
o Diuron was detected at a concentration of 15 ltg/L, which is similar to the
concentration measured in August 2007. Diuron concentrations have decreased
significantly since the Initial Remediation Pilot Study was implemented.
' o 1,2-Dichloropropane (1,2-DCP), was detected at a concentration of 8.6 µg/l_
during this monitoring event. Since the Initial Remediation Pilot Study was
initiated in 2002, 1,2-DCP concentrations have shown a generally decreasing
' trend (Figure 6). Prior to 2002 1,2-DCP concentrations had significant seasonal
fluctuations. Since 2002 similar seasonal variation in 1,2-DCP concentrations
have not been observed.
o The only other volatile organic compound (VOC) detected was chlorobenzene, at
' a concentration of 1.3 µg/L.
• MW-6R is the intergrid monitoring wells for the Expanded Pilot Test and the current
monitoring event is the second time the well has been sampled. MW-6R had the highest
' concentrations of ammonia, EDB, DBCP, 1,2,3-TCP, chlorobenzene, and 1,2-DCP
concentrations detected during the August 2008 monitoring event. Historical results for
' these COCs are presented in Figure 8.
o Ammonia, tested for the first time, was detected at a concentration of 680 mg/L.
o DBCP, EDB, 1,2,3-TCP, and diuron were the pesticides detected.
o The only VOCs detected were chlorobenzene and 1,2-DCP. The 1,2-DCP
' concentration of 110 mg/L is the highest concentration detected.
• MW-7, located immediately downgradient of MW-6R, had lower COC concentrations
' than MW-6R, with the exception of TON. Historical results for these CDCs are
' P:\PRJ2003REM\WFS\VER\VERG\3Q08\Report Text\3Q08 Report WFS-VER.doc
engineers I scientists I innovators
