Based on information in DTSC
files, the submittal does not describe all potential
hazardous substance releases at the Site. DTSC file
information indicates that past waste disposal practices
included land filling and burning of lead acetate and
asbestos. In a recent discussion, Mr. Ron Rowe of your
Office indicated that extensive sampling had been performed
at the Site in coordination with the Regional Water Quality
Control Board and the landfill issue was being addressed.
Based on your submittal and discussions with staff, DTSC
does not object to your office providing lead agency
oversight for investigation and remediation of the subject
Site.
Should your office require DTSC assistance with future
activities at the Site, DTSC has professional staff who
provide guidance on site characterization and cleanup
activities through the Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP) .
VCP enables interested parties to assess and remediate
contaminated properties in a cost effective, cooperative
manner which allows a property to be returned to productive
economic use.
