KLEINFELDER <br /> File No. 20-3978-01.W 10 <br /> July 26, 1997 <br /> 4.14 Cooling Tower Areas (File No 20-3978-01.W15) <br /> Based on the results of the subsurface assessment conducted in this area, Kleinfelder had the <br /> following recommendations detailed in our report "Soil Sampling and Analysis, Cooling Towers, <br /> Phase I ESA Recommendation Number 25, Former Spreckels Sugar Plant No. 2, 18800 South <br /> Spreckels Road,Manteca, California, (APN#221-180-04)"dated February 24, 1997: <br /> 1. Based on the lack of Cr" in the soil samples analyzed, Kleinfelder does not recommend any <br /> further investigation of the soil areas adjacent to the two cooling towers. <br /> 2. Meinfelder recommends that a copy of this report be submitted to the RWQCB and <br /> PHS/EHD for their review and comment. Additionally, Kleinfelder recommends that a letter <br /> of"no further action"be requested from both agencies for the areas which are the subject of <br /> this report. <br /> 3. If discolored soil, odors, or other evidence of contamination are encountered during site <br /> grading, development, etc., our office should be notified immediately. <br /> 4.15 Copper Blast Area(File No 20-3978-01.W16) <br /> Based on the results of the subsurface assessment conducted in this area, Kleinfelder had the <br /> following recommendations detailed in our report "Soil Sampling and Analysis, Former Copper <br /> Blast (Sand Blasting) Area, Former Spreckels Sugar Plant, 18800 South Spreckels Road, <br /> Manteca, California"dated February 24, 1997: <br /> 1. Based on the very low concentrations present in the samples which were analyzed, no <br /> further assessment of the soils in the area of the copper blast (sand blasting) area is <br /> recommended. However, should discolored soil, odors, or other evidence of contamination <br /> be encountered during site grading, development, etc..., our office should be notified <br /> immediately. <br /> 2. The equipment decontamination rinseate and soil generated during drilling should be <br /> properly disposed of by the Client.
