Ms.Anne Olson,RWQCB• • December 28,2010
Work Plan for Diamond Pet Foods Impoundment Closure Page 3 of 4
Attachment A contains the Engineer's Estimate for the various facets of capping in
place. The total cost of capping in place with native materials would be about $100,000.
POSTCLOSURE MONITORING
Once the vegetative cap is in place, it will be inspected regularly for damage or signs of
stress, such as:
• Stunted growth
• Wilting
• Color changes
• Bare spots
• Rills & gullies
Acute deficiencies may appear during the first two winters after construction and
potentially chronic deficiencies may appear thereafter. The vegetative cover will be
inspected after each significant storm event during the first two winters, and damage, as
needed, will be repaired as weather allows during the winter. In some cases, temporary
repairs will be made during the winter and permanent repairs performed during the spring
after the vegetative layer dries. During the first winters, efforts will be made to correct
the cause of any acute deficiencies.
During the second winter, locations of previous corrections will be inspected to ensure
that they do not become chronic problems. During subsequent winters, locations of
erosion will be staked during inspection and repaired prior to October 15 of each year.
SCHEDULE
We propose the following schedule:
Submit specifications to RWQCB for review April 1, 2011
RWQCB review specifications April 2011
Bidding May 2011
Construction June through August 2011
Submittal of as-built report September 30, 2011
Note that construction will not require two full months of effort; two or three weeks
should be sufficient time to complete the work. A range of dates is given to provide
flexibility for scheduling.
003044.00 Lawrence&Associates
W:ICLIENTYDiamond Pet FoodsW 10107.00-Ripon ROWDDiamondPet_Ripon_Impoundment_Closure.docx
