I have reviewed the lab results for the paint booth filter waste analysis and confirmed with
my lead senior supervisor, Garrett Backus, the following:
❖ STLC results for barium were 9.4 mg/I, which is under the regulatory limit, indicating they
are not hazardous waste.
❖ TCLP Results for barium were 2.2 mg/I, which is under the regulatory limit, indicating they
are not hazardous waste.
For the sanding waste, we will require a statement telling us how the sanding waste will be
managed. In an email from AJ Tavakoli dated 4-16-20, he indicated that the sanding dust
will be managed as a hazardous waste.
Please include in your corrective action statement for the sanding waste (can be in a
reply to this email) 1) How will the waste be stored (hazardous waste containers should be
stored in a closed container in hazardous waste storage area and labeled as hazardous
waste with the 6 required items filled out; label guidance attached) 2) How long the
waste will be stored at the facility (Hazardous waste can be stored onsite for up to 90 day
for large generators; 180 days for small generators), and 3) Indicate how the waste will be
disposed of (you can indicate whether the waste will be picked up for disposal through a
licensed hazardous waste hauler, or if the waste will be taken (by generator AFD) to the
SJC Household Hazardous Waste Facility through their small business program for
conditionally exempt small generators; brochure attached.
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Thank you,
044411 XWM
Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Departmcint
4
