Herum
Attorney at Law
P.O. Drawer 20
Stockton, CA 95201-3020
F&W CATTLE CO. AND ROBERT RONYAK PROJECT, USE PERMIT 88-16
I have reviewed the use permit pre-application by Robert Ronyak proposing to
receive cannery waste, coffee processing waste, and to feed cattle at
19051' 5. McKinley Avenue, Manteca. I have also inspected the facility at
19051 S. McKinley Avenue.
The pre-application does not address management of animal waste, corral runoff,
or wastewater extracted from cannery wastes, nor does it' address protection of
water quality. With respect to waste, wastewater, and runoff disposal , I am
enclosing a copy of applicable water quality regulations.
The inspection on 12 January 1988 revealed cattle standing in ponded water in
the corrals and a pond filled with wastewater extracted from cannery waste. The
inspection also indicated the possibility of contaminated runoff water leaving
the property and the potential for ground water contamination.
Please explain how animal waste, runoff, and wastewater extracted from cannery
waste are to be managed at the facility and indicate what steps are to be taken
to protect water quality and operate the facility in compliance with water
quality regulations.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, feel free to call me at (916)
361-5711.
AAPPR D
LOUIS F: PRATT
Land and Water Resource Specialist author
LFP;sg senior
Enclosure
cc: San Joaquin County Department of Planning & Building Inspection, Stockton
Mr. Fred Kaufman, San Joaquin Local Health District, Stockton
i Mr. Jack Fiori , San Joaquin County Mosquito Abatement District, Stockton
Mr. Barrett Kehl , South San Joaquin Irrigation District, Manteca
