•.4"!".. SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
r.
DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND BUILDING INSPECTION
1810 E. HAZELTON AVE.. STOCKTON, CA 95205 CHET DAVISSON
C9FO.R riP PLANNING PHONE: 209/944-3722 Director
BUILDING PHONE: 209/944-3701
JERRY HERZICK
January 13 , 1988 Deputy Director
TOM WALKER
Deputy Director
MEMORANDUM
TO: Development Committee
FROM: Harry Islas, Associate Planner
SUBJECT: Pre-Application UP-88-16 of Robert Ronyak (c/o Steven
Herum)
-------------------------------------------------
Written comments have been submitted by:
° Department of Public Works (12-28-87)
° Local Health District (1-8-88) .
Copies of the comment letters are attached.
Feed Lot Use :
The feed lot use includes:
A 200-steer feed lot
A tomato-silage operation
A farm labor mobile home.
The steer will be confined in an existing, 1 . 67-acre corral. No
on-site slaughtering is proposed.
The silage operation will be conducted in three existing dirt-
pits. The silage material will consist of cannery tomato wastes .
During the canning season, up to 12 truck loads of tomato wastes
will be delivered to the site daily.
The feed lot use presents two potential sources of ground water
contamination: silage effluent and cattle manure.
Silage effluent can be expected to percolate into the ground because:
1) cannery waste has a high water content, and 2) the silage
pits are unlined. The site plan does not identify the elevations
of the pit bottoms or the seasonal high ground water level.
