Alaniz, John
From: Beltran, Jorge@Waterboards <Jorge.Beltran@Waterboards.ca.gov>
Sent: Wednesday, February 19, 2020 2:32 PM
To: Alaniz, John
Cc: Kenny, Brendan@Waterboards; Backus, Garrett
Subject: RE: Cutter Lumber Products San Joaquin County
John,
Yes. We found the same issues you saw.The person responsible for the stormwater program was not onsite that day, so
we had many questions that went un-answered. We are in the process of preparing a report requesting updates to their
maps and practices. It appears that inside the paint bay, there is an oil water separator. It also appears that the drain
inlet off to the side of the paint bay (shown in the photograph you sent us) is plumbed to the oil/water separator, but
the Facility staff on hand was not able to confirm 100%.The oil/water separator should not discharge to the existing
detention basin as it is not an allowed stormwater discharge. The Facility staff was not able to provide us with details
about how the oil/water separator is operated or maintained. The Facility staff available mentioned that he thought it
was plumbed to the sanitary sewer. We cannot find anything in the permit documents that would say one way or the
other. It is also the Facility's staff understanding that all storm drain inlets discharge to the existing detention basin. Do
you have information that would provide a more complete picture?
Thanks,
Jorge
From:Alaniz,John <jalanizl@sjgov.org>
Sent:Wednesday, February 19, 2020 9:08 AM
To: Beltran,Jorge@Waterboards<Jorge.Beltran @Waterboards.ca.gov>
Cc: Kenny, Brendan @Waterboards<Brendan.Kenny@waterboards.ca.gov>; Backus, Garrett<gbackus@sjgov.org>
Subject: RE: Cutter Lumber Products San Joaquin County
EXTERNAL:
Hi Jorge,
I was wondering if you could give me an update to your inspection findings.
I am getting ready to send my report.
Thank You,
John Alaniz
REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
1868 E Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Phone: (209)468-3147
