City of Riverbank WWTP• • Page 2 of 4
Stanislaus County Inspection Date: 21 March 2001
Steve Black took us on a brief inspection tour of the ponds. With the exception of the Winter
Aeration Cell, all ponds are full. Freeboard varied from approximately 6 to 18 inches. The
northern and western berms show evidence of saturation along the crest, and seepage was
apparent along the northern berm. Wendy requested that they pump the standing seepage back to
the pond system.
The western berm has one repair consisting of anchored plastic sheeting on the inside of the berm.
Steve said that staff inspects these berms every two hours around the clock and that they have a
stock of materials to repair the berms as necessary.
SUMMARY: Freeboard violations were observed in Summer Ponds 1, 2, and 3. Seepage was
observed outside the northern berm and must be returned to the ponds. The Discharger plans
emergency measures to prevent a spill and we will issue a Cleanup and Abatement Order within
the next couple of weeks.
ANNE L..OLSON,P.E.
Associate Water Resources Control Engineer
Approved:
