The proposed screen intervals in the monitoring wells are from 60 to
100 feet. Two of the proposed wells are located 80 feet to the west of B-1 (June
7, 1997 Report). The third well is located between the former UST location and
the domestic drinking water well. The two borings are located approximately 30
feet east and west of B-1. Data from the soil borings will be used to define the
lateral extent of soil contamination. The borings will be drilled to a depth of 80
feet.
PHS/EHD recommends that the workplan be amended to include the following
changes:
1) One well should be installed 10 feet from the former UST in a downgradient
position. Data from this monitoring well may also serve to define the lateral
and vertical extent of the soil plume.
2) One monitoring well should be installed between the former UST area and the
domestic drinking water well in order to determine the potential for pollution to
enter and contaminate the domestic water supply. (The depth of the bentonite
grout seal in the domestic well is 50 feet)
3) A third monitoring well should be installed in a location which will allow
groundwater gradient flow direction to be triangulated with the other two
monitoring wells.
4) Monitoring wells should be screened 5 feet above highest anticipated
groundwater (78 feet) and 15 feet below lowest anticipated groundwater (78
feet)
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
