' v • <br /> gas from the extraction wells to the remediation shed. The trenching system layout is shown on <br /> Figure 20. The same trenches will be used for the air sparge system. Piping will be used to convey <br /> air to the sparge wells for injection to the subsurface. Piping will be installed at a maximum depth <br /> of two feet as shown on Figure 21. A two-foot by two-foot well vault will be installed over each <br /> ' vapor extraction and air sparge well. A gate valve will be installed at each well head to control the <br /> airflow in or out of the well. In addition, a sampling port will be installed at each vapor extraction <br /> well for monitoring purposes. <br /> ' Equipment operation will require the installation of an electrical power source and meter base. Site <br /> system requirements include a 220V, single phase 150 amp power source and meter base. A <br /> NEMA 4,UL Listed Control Panel will be located at the shed. <br /> 6.0 REMEDIATION SYSTEM CONSTRUCTION <br /> ' Upon review and approval of the remediation system design plans and specifications by EHD, ATC <br /> will complete the following tasks. <br /> 1 6.1 Buildingy.Air Pollution Control District and Well Installation Permits <br /> t An Authority to Construct and Permit to Operate application will be completed and submitted to <br /> the SJVAPCD to allow for construction and installation of the proposed VES. The application <br /> includes a site history, VES specifications, and analytical results. A complete set of plans will be <br /> ' submitted to the San Joaquin County Building, Planning and Fire Departments for review, <br /> comment, and approval prior to construction and installation of the VES and groundwater <br /> extraction and treatment system. <br /> ' 6.2 Construction and Construction Inspection <br /> ' Following approval of the design plans and specifications, obtaining County Building, Fire and <br /> Planning Department permits, and SJVAPCD air permit to construct, systems installation in <br /> ' accordance with the approved Plans and Specifications will be initiated. Construction will include <br /> completion of wellhead piping connections;pressure testing of lines; installation of the remediation <br /> shed; connection of electrical service and installation; and plumbing of all process equipment <br /> related to the VES and air sparge system. <br /> 6.3 Systems Startup and Operation <br /> ' 6.3.1 Vapor Extraction and Air Sparge Systems Monitoring <br /> ' After completion of installation, operation of the proposed VES and AS system will be initiated in <br /> compliance with applicable regulatory agencies. Startup procedures will include monitoring, <br /> maintenance, and sampling within the first five days of operation. Operation and maintenance of <br /> ' the systems typically includes three site inspections for the first week of operation, and site visits <br /> once every week for the first month.
