(ATC) has prepared this Vapor Extraction Pilot Test Report on behalf of <br /> Raymond Greer to summarize findings of the soil vapor extraction pilot tests at the above <br /> referenced site. The purpose of the pilot tests was to evaluate if soil vapor extraction is a viable <br /> remedial option for remediating petroleum impacted soil and groundwater in the vicinity of the <br /> former underground storage tanks (USTs). This work was done at the direction of San Joaquin <br /> County Environmental Health Department (EHD). The findings of the pilot study are <br /> summarized in the following paragraphs. <br /> 1_1 Site Location <br /> The site is located on the east side of Steinegul Road and south of Lone Tree Road in Escalon, <br /> California, as shown on Figure 1 and Figure 2. The location is a residential and agricultural area <br /> and the site is currently occupied by a single-family residence. <br /> 1.2 Site Background <br /> J ` In May 1987, one 550-gallon gasoline underground storage tank (UST) and one 1,000-gallon <br /> t gasoline UST were removed from the site by H&H Ship Service. The USTs were transported <br /> and disposed of at the Levin Metal Corporation disposal site in Richmond, California. A soil <br /> �. sample collected from beneath the 1,000-gallon UST contained detectable concentrations of <br /> benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylenes (BTEX) constituents. <br /> In March 1997, WHF, Inc., (VHF) supervised the advancement of one soil boring to 80 feet <br /> below ground surface (bgs). Soil and groundwater samples collected from the soil boring <br /> contained detectable concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and <br /> BTEX. A water sample.was also collected from the on-site drinking water and it contained no <br /> detectable concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons. <br /> In December 1998, BSK & Associates (BSK) advanced five borings at the site and completed <br /> four of the borings as groundwater monitoring wells MWl through MW4. Soil samples <br /> collected from borings B2 and MW2 contained detectable concentrations of TPHg and BTEX. <br /> SAEnviromenta1\25291\reports\rifs.doc 1 <br />
