• , A 1117 Lone Palm Avenue, Suite B <br /> Modesto, CA 95351 <br /> www atc-envlro com <br /> r. 209 579 2221 <br /> A S S O C I A T B S I N C <br /> Fax 209 579 2225 <br /> March 22, 2004 <br /> 54 25291 0001 <br /> MAR 2 5 2004 <br /> ENVIRONMENT HEALTH <br /> Mr Jeff Wong PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Services, Environmental Health Division <br /> 304 E Weber Avenue, Third Floor <br /> Stockton, California 95202 <br /> Subject Cone Penetrometer Testing (CPT) and Groundwater Subsurface Investigation at <br /> Former Raymond Greer Construction Facility Located at 15634 Stemegul Road, <br /> Escalon, California <br /> Dear Mr Wong <br /> ATC Associates Inc has prepared this brief letter to provide an overview of the CPT and <br /> . groundwater subsurface investigation activities at the above referenced facility (Figure 1) The <br /> CPT and groundwater subsurface investigation has been initiated in general accordance with <br /> ATC's Workplan for Additional Subsurface Investigation at Former Raymond Greer <br /> Construction Facility Located at 15634 Steinegul Road, Escalon, California, dated December <br /> 18, 2003 <br /> Three CPT borings were advanced at the locations shown on Figure 2 The summary of CPT <br /> results provided by Gregg Drilling is contained in Attachment 1 Geoprobe soil borings were <br /> advanced adjacent to each CPT boring and a groundwater sample was collected from each boring <br /> between approximately 117 and 127 feet below ground surface (bgs) Probe refusal was <br /> encountered at approximately this depth range in the borings preventing the collection of <br /> groundwater samples from approximately 150 feet bgs as proposed in the workplan <br /> Benzene, toluene, xylenes, and 1-2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) were detected in the groundwater <br /> sample collected from boring CPT1 at a depth of 124 feet bgs at concentrations of 16 <br /> micrograms per Iiter (ug/1), 2 4 ug/l, 3 1 ug/l, and 3 9 ug/l, respectively No other petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons were detected in the groundwater sample collected from boring CPT1 The <br /> groundwater sample collected from boring CPT2 at a depth of 127 feet bgs contained no <br /> detectable concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons The groundwater sample collected from <br /> boring CPT3 at a depth of approximately 117 feet bgs contained benzene at a concentration of <br /> 1 0 ug/1 No other petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the groundwater sample collected <br /> from boring CPT3 Analytical data are summarized in Table 1 and laboratory data sheets are <br /> contained in Attachment 2 <br /> 252911reports\CPT1etter doc I <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIALS PROFESSIONALS <br />
