FILE COPY
PUBLIC H?ALTH SERVIMES o
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY z. z
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION . . :`.
TI
Karen Furst, M.D., M.P.H., Health Officer _ .
qiFORN
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor • Stockton, CA 95202
209/468-3420
JUAN PANTOJA / MARGARITE GUZMAN APR 2 6 2000
23565 S SANTA FE ROAD
RIVERBANK CA 95367
RE: Contaminated Drinking Water well
@ 23565 S.Santa Fe Rd.
Riverbank,C.A.,95367
San Joaquin CountyPublic Health Services,Environmental Health Division(PHS-EHD) is concerned that the water
from the well located on your site contains MtBE because of an unauthorized release of gasoline from the underground
storage tanks formerly located at the Ranch Market, which is adjacent to your property.
Currently you are being provided with water from a drinking water well located on the Ranch Market property. Tins
connection is temporary. PHS-EHD has directed the responsible parties of the Ranch Market to provide you with an
acceptable and permanent source of potable water on your own property.
In order to do this, certain tests will need to be conducted on and under your property to evaluate the alternatives for
replacement of the contaminated well. The Ranch Market owners will hire a contractor to determine the best location
for a new well. The contractor will install a test hole to see if an adequate and safe water supply will be produced. PHS-
EHD will evaluate the results and if conditions are acceptable, will recommend to you that the well replacement be
completed. All this work will be done at the expense of the owners of the Ranch Market.
It is the recommendation of PHS-EHD that you allow Ranch Market's contractors the time and access necessary to
evaluate and install a new drinking water well for you. PHS-EHD is aware that the well on your property has not been
completely disconnected from use. With your health as our main concern,PIS-EHD further recommends that you not
use the water from your own contaminated well for food preparation, bathing,or drinking.
Please contact me at(209)468-3454 if you have any questions or wish to discuss anything about the groundwater
conditions or your well. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Donna Heran,REHS,Director
Environmental Health Division
Michael J.Infurna Jr., REI-IS Margaret HS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
MI/
c: C'VRWQCB-MartyHartzell,Sacramento.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
