Mike Infurna [EH]
From: Matt Hanko
Sent: Monday,April 14, 2003 6:33 PM
To: Mike Infurna [EH]
Subject: Ranch Market
Mike:
Thanks for the return call and the suggestion for the e-mail message.
The soil vapor influent data has decreased significantly since the soil vapor extraction (SVE)system was
initiated. The Secor May 2, 2002 Work Plan for Remedial Approach and Well Installation indicated that after
approximately 4 months of operation the Cat-Ox/SVE system would be replaced with a different SVE blower and
activated carbon based on operation costs. Geocon will be shutting down/removing the Cat-Ox system before the
end of the month and installing and starting a new SVE blower plumbed to activated carbon. The historical soil
vapor influent concentrations are attached.
Geocon wanted to give SJCEHD the courtesy of notification prior to initiating the action. No response is
necessary unless you would like to discuss. It is my impression that the way the Secor Work Plan was prepared
that no pre-approval by SJCEHD is necessary for the switch from Cat-Ox to activated carbon.
Regards,
Matt Hanko
Geocon Consultants, Inc.
925-371-5900
4/15/2003
