Work Plan Ranch Market Pae 2 of 7
• The groundwater sample will also be tested for the oxygenate compounds as listed below(using EPA Method 8260):
1. Methanol
2. Ethanol
3. Tertiary Butyl Alcohol(TBA)
4. MTBE
5. Di-isopropyl Ether(D1PE)
6. Ethyl Tertiary Butyl Ether(ETBE)
7. Tertiary Amyl Methyl Ether(TAME)
QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL PROTOCOLS
The following licensed professional people will supervise this project:
Engineer: Kevin Jordan,PE 44011, GE 2286
Environmental Assessor: Andreous Younan,REA 05967
Drillers: Will have current C-57 drilling license
Laboratory: Will be a California State Certified Laboratory
Protocols
• Drilling Monitoring Wells:
All down-hole equipment will be decontaminated using steam to clean off all soil equipment prior to use. Wells will
be drilled with continuous flight hollow stem auger. All wells will have a diameter at least four inches greater than the
casing diameter(OD).
Core samples will be taken ever five feet. A core of the capillary fringe will be obtained. The well will be logged
geologically and the blow counts will be recorded. Also, the odor of each sample will be noted and the presence of any
free hydrocarbon product.
Prior to removing equipment fro the hole, the TD will be measured. Once the casing is placed in the hole, an accurate
measurement of the total amount of casing must be made. The difference between the two figures will be explained by
the well logger.
All drill cuttings will be placed in drums, sealed and the drilling intervals for the cuttings in each drum will be marked
on the drum. The drums will remain stored the site until the contamination can be assessed through the laboratory
sampling.
Completion:
Slotted casing(0.02 inch slots)will be capped with a bottom plug. The slots will extend five feet above the estimated
water table indicated during drilling. Clean#3 sand will be placed opposite the slotted casing and one foot above the
last slot. At this time the well will be surged for five minutes to attempt to eliminate any voids in the sand pack. At the
end of the surging, the top sand will be measured and additional sand will be added if necessary. Directly above the
sand,a three foot plug of hydrated bentonite chips will be placed. Above the plug, a seal of cement grout will be placed
• to the surface. The top of the casing will be capped and a traffic box will be cemented in place around and above the
top of the casing.
