• •
Work Plan For Remedial Approach and Well Installation 10
Ranch Market Site 23569 South Santa Fe Road,Riverbank,California May 2,2002
chloride (PVC) blank casing and 0.020-inch-slot well screen. The well screen will be installed
from 13 feet bgs to 30 feet bgs (Table 1, Attachment 3). A sand filter pack will be placed
within the annulus of the well from the bottom of the boring to approximately two feet above
the top of the well screen. The annulus of the well will be sealed with two feet of bentonite on
top of the sand, and a portland cement/bentonite slurry to the surface. A 10-inch-diameter,
traffic-rated, watertight street box will be installed to protect the well from surface traffic.
Each well will be developed by surging and bailing using a surge block and bailer to remove
fine-grained sediments from the well and sand pack. Periodic measurements of pH,
conductivity and temperature will be made during development to establish baseline values for
groundwater. All water generated during the development activities will be stored in DOT
approved 55-gallon drums pending disposal.
After each wellhead is properly finished and set, the new wells will be professionally surveyed
to establish horizontal position in relation to pertinent site features and elevation with respect to
mean sea level.
Ozone Sparge Wells
Ozone sparge wells S-1 through 5-23 will be constructed of 1.25-inch diameter schedule 80
PVC blank casing and a 3-foot long sparging diffuser tip. The sparge tip will be installed from
35 to 38 feet bgs (Table 1, Attachment 3). A sand filter pack will be placed within the annulus
of the well from the bottom of the boring to approximately two feet above the top of the well
screen. The annulus of the well will be sealed with two feet of bentonite on top of the sand, and
a portland cementlbentonite slurry to the surface. An 8-inch-diameter, traffic-rated, watertight
street box will be installed to protect the well from surface traffic.
Report Preparation
A technical report summarizing the results of well installation, well development and soil
sampling activities will be submitted to the RWQCB.
Schedule of Events
An estimated schedule to complete the proposed assessment is provided in Attachment 5.
Fde:Reoch Mm t-Riscrbeek\W.r plmsV.h rtu '-RaM System
