Due to an expansion of the remedial objectives, Secor submitted a Work Plan for Remedial Approach
and Well Installation dated May 2, 2002 The final remediation plan included 10 soil vapor extraction
' (SVE) wells (VI through V10 each approximately 30 feet deep) and 20 ozone-sparge wells (Sl
through 520, each approximately 45 feet deep) The RWQCB approved the work plan in a letter
dated May 13, 2002 The RWQCB indicated that Secor had not established Site cleanup levels in the
FRP and indicated that based on the use of the impacted aquifer as a domestic water supply, the
groundwater shall not contain concentrations of contaminants of concern that exceed the respective
Maximum Contaminant Limits (MCLs)
23 Remedial Well and System Installation
' The lateral ozone injection lines, soil vapor extraction lines, and remediation compound were
installed following installation of the ozone sparge and SVE wells The location of the treatment
compound is shown on Figure 3 The SVE lines were stubbed up into a manifold in the treatment
compound The initial SVE system consisted of a 500 cubic feet per minute (cfm) blower with a
' catalytic oxidizer fired by natural gas connected to the SVE well field manifold Soil vapor extraction
was initiated at the Site on September 26, 2002, under San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control
District (SJVAPCD) Authority to Construct number N-4613-1-0
The 20 ozone sparge pipes were stubbed up into a manifold and connected to the 6 cfm
ozonesparge
skid Ozone sparging was initiated at the Site on November 20, 2002
The catalytic oxidizer unit was replaced in June 2003 with a 300-cfm blower using granular activated
carbon (GAC) to abate contaminants The 300 cfm blower with GAC was replaced by a 250 cfm
blower with a catalytic oxidizer unit in February 2004
Additional details of the remediation well installation and system startup are described in Secor's
Remediation Well and Soil Vapor Extraction System Installation Report, dated November 27, 2002
t24 Domestic Wells
' Four domestic water supply wells (DW-1 R, DW-2R, DW-3 and DW-4), one inactive domestic water
supply well (DW-1) and one destroyed domestic water supply (DW-2) well are located within 340
feet of the former tank pit(Figure 2)
' Well # Location from Tank Pit Comments
DW-1 90 feet west Upgradient of tank pit(onsite well)
DW-IR 120 feet west Upgradient of tank pit(onsite well)
DW-2 120 feet south Downgradient well (well destroyed)
DW-3 245 feet south Downgradient of tank pit
DW-4 340 feet south Downgradient of tank pit
' DW-2R 200 feet south Downgradient of tank pit (well installed
December 2000 to replace DW-2)
Project No S8643-06-01 -3- May 5,2005
