t
Free product has been observed in well MW-3 intermittently since Fourth Quarter 2003
Approximately one-half inch of free product was observed in well MW-3 at the time of the Fourth
Quarter 2004 sample event No free product was observed during the First and Second Quarters 2005
sample event, however, a product-sheen was observed on the purge water and on the water in the
sample containers during both of these sampling events No free product has been observed during this
quarter's sampling event
33 Remediation System Operation and Maintenance and Performance Summary
Operation and maintenance (O&M) of the remediation system is performed monthly (or as needed)
Photo ionization detector (PID) readings from the SVE effluent and influent is performed monthly as
required by the San Joaquin Unified Air Pollution Control District (SJUAPCD) As required by
SJUAPCD, a chart recorder provides a continuous chart of the catalytic oxidizer temperature The chart
paper is changed out on a weekly basis A brief description and performance evaluation of the remedial
system for the reporting period is presented below
3 3 1 SVE System
The SVE system is comprised of a skid-mounted 250-cfm blower and catalytic oxidizer (ECAT-250)
with knockout pot manifolded to ten SVE wells (V-1 through V-10) During the reporting period, the
SVE system was approximately 100% operational
On May 3 10 19 and 3l June 9 17 23 and 30 and Jul 7 the chart paper was changed out
y y P p g
On May 3, Geocon mobilized to the site to collect the SVE influent and effluent samples for laboratory
analysis and to adjust flows and vacuums on various wells to maximize contaminant removal The
contaminant concentration, flow, and vacuum were monitored in extraction wells V2, and V3 Based
on vacuum readings, flows, and PID readings, no adjustments were necessary
For the next four days, wells that had been offline (VI, V4, V5, V7, V8, V9, and V 10) were re-opened
to determine if any residual mass remained in the radius of influence of each well No more than three
wells were online at one time to achieve the maximum vacuum and flow rates for each individual well
Each well listed was opened and allowed to run for 24 hours prior to sampling Based on flow rates,
vacuum and AID readings of the opened wells followed by the collection of influent samples submitted
for laboratory analysis, confirmation of which wells should remain offline was possible A summary of
the analytical data for the influent samples collected from the individual wells is presented in the table
on the next page
•
Project No 58643-06-01 -7- September 28 2005
I
