On January 28, 2004, the analytical data for samples collected on January 26 were received The
laboratory reported that the influent TPHg concentration was 150 ppmv and the effluent TPHg
concentration was 16 ppmv Based on a flow rate of 231 cfm, the percent destruction was 89% and
the emissions were 1 15 pounds per day of TPHg The efficiency of the ECAT 300 was questionable
and Geocon decided to mobilize a different ECAT skid Thus, on February 3, the initial ECAT 300
sled was removed and on February 12 a new ECAT 250 skid was mobilized to the site
' On February12 2004 Geocon started u the ECAT 2
p 50 and collected influent and effluent vapor
samples and field analyzed with a PTD Based on the PID readings, the effluent discharge
concentrations were too high The catalytic oxidizer cell was removed, cleaned, and re-seated The
thermal chamber temperature was elevated to 900 degrees Fahrenheit (°F) and the intake valve was
closed to the well field !manifold and opened to the atmosphere The ECAT 250 operated open to the
atmosphere for five days to bake the catalytic cell
' On February 17, 2004, Geocon mobilized to the site and closed the intake of the ECAT 250 to the
atmosphere and opened 1t to the well field manifold The thermal chamber setting remained at 900°F
' and an influent and effluent sample was collected Once the samples were collected the ECAT 250
was shut down pending receipt of favorable analytical data The laboratory analytical data for the
' samples that were collected on February 17 were received on February 20 The laboratory reported
that the influent TPHg concentration was 47 ppmv and the effluent TPHg concentration was 10
ppmv Based on a flow rate of 170 cfm, the percent destruction was 79% and the emissions were
0 53 pounds per day of TPHg Thus, the ECAT 250 was returned to service on February 23, 2004
' To enable the constiuction of domestic well DW-IR the overhead electrical line to the remediation
system had to be temporarily disconnected on March 15, 2004 Power was restored to the
remediation system on April 5, 2004 and the SVE system was returned to service
The average vacuum for the SVE system was 67 inches of water, and the average flow rate was 238
I efin The average SVE system influent TPHg concentration during the reporting period was 160
parts per million volume (ppmv)
' The SVE system removed approximately 85 8 pounds of TPHg, 1 4 pounds of benzene, and 0 1
pounds of MTBE during the reporting period The SVE system operational and analytical data
' including hours of operation, applied vacuum, flow rate, field PID data, influent TPHg and benzene
concentrations, and mass removal data are presented in Table 2
' MTBE removal data is presented in Table 3 A summary of the emissions data is presented in
Table 4 SVE well data, including open/closed status, vacuum, now, and PTD data are presented in
Table 5 Graphical presentation of TPHg and benzene mass removal and influent concentration data
Pro2l,,t No 58643-06-01 -7- Icily 1 2004
1
