Problem Assessment Report Page 7
Ranch Market,23569 South Santa Fe Road,Riverbank CA November 8,2000
5.0 MONTHLY WELL SAMPLING
5.1 Domestic Well and Monitoring Well MW-7 Sampling
Monthly groundwater samples were collected from DW-1 on September 1 and October 2,
' 2000 The water samples were collected from collected from the pressure tank water faucet
of DW-1
In addition, well MW-7 was also monitored and sampled to confirm the initial analytical
results for the water sample collected on August 16, 2000 On September 1, 2000, SECOR
personnel measured the depth to water in MW-7 using a water level meter to the nearest 0 01
I feet Approximately 3 well casing volumes of groundwater was purged from MW-7, until
pH, temperature, and conductivity readings stabilized (Appendix C) Well MW-7 was
monitored to verify at least 80% recovery prior to sampling Once adequate recovery was
Iobserved, a disposable hand bailer was used to collect a groundwater sample
The water samples from DW-1 and MW-7 were collected in appropriate containers, preserved
Ion ice, and transported under chain-of-custody manifest to Kiff Analytical LLC, in Davis,
California for analysis The water samples were analyzed using U S Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) method 8260B for BTEX, TPHg, oxygenates, 1,2-DCA and EDB
5.1.1 Domestic Well and Monitoring Well MW-7 Sample Results
The two water samples collected from domestic well DW-1 did not contain reportable
lie concentrations of BTEX, TPHg, oxygenates, 1,2-DCA, or EDB The results are summarized
in Table 3, Copies of the field notes are included in Appendix C, and the results of the Chain
of Custody manifests are provided in Appendix D
Referring to Table 3, the second water sample collected from MW-7 on September 1, 2000
contained benzene, toluene, xylenes, and TPHg at concentrations one to two magnitudes
below the previous sample collected on August 16, 2000 The sample did not contain
reportable concentrations of MtBE, oxygenates, 1,2-DCA, or EDB
' 5.2 Domestic Well Nitrate Sample Collection and Results
I At the request of the SJCEHD, a technician from Far West Labs collected one water sample
from domestic well DW-1 on August 11, 2000 The sample was analyzed for the Community
Water Well Analytical Suite and found to exceed the drinking water standard for nitrate as
I (NO3) and nitrate plus nitrite as nitrogen (N)
On September 21, 2000 SECOR's field geologist used a disposable bailer to collected a grab
water sample from the domestic well DW-2, located on the Pantoja Property Far West Labs
in Riverbank, California analyzed the sample for the presence of nitrate as (NO3) and nitrate
as nitrogen (N) and found the water exceeded the drinking water standard for both
Iconstituents
i
I
File PAR-report doe SECOR International Incorporated
I
