i
Quarterly Monitoring Program and Remedial System Report(Q2/2000) 4
Ranch Market 23569 Santa Fe Road,Riverbank,California May 1 2000
Groundwater Sampling Procedures
The groundwater monitoring wells were re-monitored to verify at least 80% recovery prior to
sampling Adequate recovery was observed in the purged wells prior to sampling A disposable
bailer was used to collect the groundwater samples All samples were collected in appropriate
containers, preserved on ice, and transported under chain-of-custody manifest to Kiff Analytical
LLC located in Davis, California
The water samples were analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX),
methyl-ternary-butyl-ether(MtBE), total purgeable petroleum hydrocarbons quantified-as-
gasoline (TPHg), TBA, DIPE, ETBE, TAME, 1,2 DCA, and EDB using EPA method 8260B
Groundwater Analytical Results
Historical and recent groundwater laboratory analytical results are summarized in Table 2 The
highest TPHg concentration was detected in monitoring well MW-2 at 42,000 parts per billion
(ppb) (Figure 5) The highest Benzene concentration was detected in monitoring well MW-2 at
8,100 ppb MtBE concentrations were at highest in MW-2 at 850 ppb Water sample collected
from domestic well DW-2 contained concentrations of MtBE at 7 0 ppb Copies of the
laboratory analytical reports and chain-of-custody manifests are included in Attachment 4
Conclusion
Four groundwater monitoring wells and four domestic water wells were sampled this quarter
The depth to water rose approximately 1 76 feet below grade surface since December 1999
Concentrations of benzene decreased in wells MW-1 and MW-3 this quarter MtBE
concentrations were reported in all monitoring wells and continue to be reported in domestic well
DW-2 The variations observed in the analytical results of the water samples in Second Quarter
2000 are consistent to the historical fluctuations reported in previous quarters
Future Work
Future work planned for the third quarter 2000 include the following tasks
• Continued quarterly monitoring and sampling at the subject site
• Log domestic wells DW-1 and DW-2 using a down hole video camera
i
File Riverbank-00 2Q rpt dac
