Mr. Richard Callistro September 21, .1994
San Joaquin County Capital Projects Page 4
Groundwater Sampling
After completion and development of the two new wells, one round of groundwater sampling
of all wells in the HSA building well field (MW-2A, MW-3A, MW-4, MW-5, MW-6, MW-7,
MW-8) will be completed, a total of seven wells. One blind duplicate and one field
decontamination check sample will also be taken as quality control measures. All nine water
samples will be submitted for BTEX analysis by EPA Method 602 and TPH-G analysis by EPA
Method 8015-M, the same analytical suite as utilized in previous site monitoring.
Report Development
All data generated by the site investigation activities described above will be presented in a final
report. The focus of the report will be toward making a final evaluation of whether or not the
HSA site is contributing to groundwater quality problems in the area of the site. As noted in
the EHD letter of March 14, 1994, three other UST sites are near the HSA site. As part of
preparing the report of this investigation's data, WESTON will review EHD files for these
projects and incorporate any data found relevant to the HSA project. This approach adopts a
larger view of the vicinity of the HSA building than utilized in past reports and may assist to
place the HSA site data in context with more regional concerns in the downtown Stockton area.
Optional Well Abandonment
Because of the drop in the regional water table, existing wells MW-2 and MW-3 are unlikely
to ever contribute further information to the project. Therefore, it is recommended that MW-2
and MW-3 be properly abandoned by pressure grouting to eliminate any future liabilities. While
abandonment at this time is not absolutely required, doing so while the drilling firm is onsite for
the MW-2A and MW-3A monitor well installation will save costs. As this is an optional
activity, a quotation for the task is presented separately in the budget quotation section below.
Cost Ouotation
To complete the work discussed above, the following budget is proposed:
Investigation, Monitoring and Reporting Tasks
Labor
Senior Technical $ 1,694
Technical 8,294
Support 700
Total Labor $10,688
MTROPOSALWROMP `
1
