Samp1p co:lection shall follow the recommendations in the <br /> LOFT Manual (Ma t48B Edition) utilizing thin walled steel or brass <br /> cylinders. [The EPA SW846 "Teat Methods for Evaluating Soil <br /> Waste. . . " recommendations may also be utilized for sampling]. <br /> Deviations for this proferred sampling method roust he submitted in <br /> writing with justification for review and approval by The San Joaquin <br /> Local Health District prior to initiating sampling. <br /> 4. Aquifer studies and groundwater fluctuation have been <br /> thoroughly studied in the Mc: rmick-Baxter investigation. Regional <br /> water Quality Control Board and Department of Health Services are <br /> overseeing the investigation and information can be obtained through <br /> these agencies. <br /> 5. There are no clean-up criteria established for soil. A <br /> risk assessment should be prepared, in the final remedial phase of <br /> this investigation, addressing petroleum hydrocarbons remaining in <br /> the soil and the possible impact to groundwater. <br /> 6. Large scale excavations will require vapor and dust control <br /> monitos,ing to reduce off-site exposures and nuisance conditions. <br /> Necessary permits and approval may be required from the San Joaquin <br /> Local Air Pollution Control Department for onsite aeration <br /> activities. <br /> S. quality assurance and quality control practices should <br /> address the presence of 500 ug/l of lead in the travel blank. <br /> Subsequent sampling is recommended to verify the organolead detection <br /> in the groundwater sampling. <br /> 9. The L1lFT document is referred to as the sole source of <br /> remediation alternative. <br /> These issues should be addressed in a revised sampling plan which <br /> must be submitted to this office for approval prior to initiating the <br /> work plan. <br /> If you have any question, please contact Diane M.
