Sampling Procedure and Analysis Schedule
Five monitor wells were sampled The sampling order was as follows*
1 MW-5
' 2 MW-6
3 MW-7
4 MW-4
' S MW-8
To sample each well, a teflon bailer was attached to new nylon line and lowered into the well
' by hand. The bailer was filled, brought to the surface and the water was carefully poured into
laboratory prepared glass and plastic bottles and capped with teflon-lined caps Samples were
' labeled with stick-on labels filled out in indelible ink, with the following information
Site name
' Date collected
Time collected
Sample TD
' Sampler's initials
Analysis required
Quality control/quality assurance procedures consisted of the collection of a blind duplicate and
an equipment decontamination rinsate sample The duplicate was collected concurrently with
Sample MW-8 and was given the fictitious well/sample name MW-10 The decontamination
' sample (labeled MW-11) was collected from a bailer which had been cleaned by the normal
decontamination procedure. De-ionized water was poured into the decontaminated bailer and
then the water was poured from the bailer into the sample bottles This sample serves as a
' check on the decontamination procedures for the bailer, ensuring that it has been effectively
cleaned
' Samples were placed with ice in an insulated chest for delivery with a chain-of-custody document
to the WESTON Analytics' laboratory in Stockton, California This laboratory is certified by
the State of California to perform the required analyses. Samples were submitted for analysis
' by EPA Method 8015 (Modified) for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) and
EPA Method 8020 for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX). The equipment
decontamination sample and the duplicate sample were scheduled for analysis of only TPH-G
' Decontamination and Health and Safety Procedures
' All devices used to purge the wells and collect the water samples (bailers, etc.) were
decontaminated prior to the second use and between use for each sampling The bailers were
decontaminated by washing in an alconox-water mixture with a stiff bristle brush, rinsing with
' potable water and giving a final spray rinse with distilled water. New polyethylene rope and
thin nylon line used to lower the bailer into the well was disposed of after each use.
' SrFX\RPTSWC 3RD WP A - 3 MAN"
