4MOEF5 OE9riERl LOMIA*W3 <br /> REPORTING LIMITS FOR BTEX <br />' The ensuing explanation addresses the difference in reporting limits presented by the <br /> laboratory versus those found in the Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for <br /> preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Tank Sites dated 10 August 1990 <br />' It is the policy of the laboratory to report an analytical result using a practical quantitation <br /> limit (PQL) or reporting limit (RL) The reporting limit is a laboratory established limit <br />' of quantitation that will be confidently reported by the laboratory The laboratory's <br /> reporting limit is verified through the lowest point on the calibration curve and is above the <br /> method detection limit (MDL)which is defined according to Appendix B of 40CFR Chapter <br />' 1, Part 136 - Guidelines Establishing Test Procedures for the Analysis of Pollutants. <br /> Although the laboratory's MDLs are lower than the quantitation limits found in the Tri- <br /> Regional Recommendations, MDLs are obtained under ideal circumstances including <br /> mterferant free matrix and are not representative of "real world" matrices The laboratory, <br /> however, reports organic results below the reporting limit as estimated using a data flag "J" <br />' All results meet the same qualitative criteria <br /> I <br /> I <br /> 1 <br />
